Daikin has recently supplied a multipurpose unit featuring screw inverter compressor to a private hospital in Cyprus. The project aimed at replacing a number of chiller units form multiple brands, used for different purposes, from MRI cooling to comfort cooling in the facility.

About the products and the project
The private hospital involved in the project offers all kind of medical support (Emergency, all medical specialties, Surgery Theaters, Labs, and Intensive Care) and is recognized as one of the best Heart Surgery centers in the world.
The project aimed at upgrading the building's HVAC system, improving building’s energy efficiency by replacing old chiller units with more efficient and reliable alternatives, able to ensure continuity of operation to machine and services in the hospital.

The unit supplied to meet the needs mentioned above, was the Multipurpose 4Z chiller. It was chosen for the ability to provide, simultaneously, cooling, heating, and hot sanitary water, covering the need for both cooling and heating at the same time in the facility.
Among the features that will help the hospital meeting energy effiiency targets, there is the screw inverter compressor, which will ensure high energy efficiency levels, especially at part load.

Daikin managed to meet the requirements in the project thanks to a solution which takes advantage of the Inverter technology and ensures the best performance, regardless of the load demand of the building.
In fact, thanks to the inverter technology, the 4Z chiller installed will be able to match the different loads requirements, in any circumstances. The Inverter will continuously modulate the speed of the compressors’ motors, ensuring excellent capacity control, providing outstanding part load efficiency values, and substantial energy savings.
When it comes to single screw compressor chillers, then, Daikin has a history of leadership. In fact, this compressor technology has been chosen for projects all over the world for 20 years.
Daikin screw compressor, differently from a standard screw compressor, uses one main screw meshing with twin star rotors to produce volume matching compression cycle. Due to the main rotor, balanced in both radial and axial direction, the compressor bearing has extremely high reliability. Therefore, its life span can be longer than other screw compressors. The single screw compressor, then, has only three moving parts. As a result of that, it reduces the possibility of failure and keeps operation costs low.
