Performing maintenance in the right ways means laying the foundation for efficient management of your facility, saving resources in the medium and long term. The best way to keep the equipment running in great conditions is not only to maintain but to plan the overhauling in due time.

For this purpose, Daikin offers both preventive and corrective maintenance services to allow customers to intervene as quickly and efficiently as possible. Being able to quickly operate to remedy a fault is a particularly appreciated benefit, because slowing down or stopping production for hours, if not days, can cause serious discomforts or even damages to a business.

What is an Overhaul?

An overhaul consists in replacing wearable parts before they break. The overhaul is focused on the compressor, but it can be performed on different parts of a chiller, depending on the chiller’s condition.

Because of the structure chillers have, the compressor is among the components that are more exposed to wear and tear. For this reason, aiming to bring the compressor back to its original performance it’s recommended and suitable for reducing the risk of malfunctions which can cause a sudden breakdown.

When to Overhaul?

As factory recommendation, a major overhaul is to be done every 40.000 running hours of the compressor. For Daikin Screw chillers, a minor overhaul is to be done every 20.000 running hours. This as part of the lifetime maintenance of the chiller in order to assure optimal performance and avoid breakdowns. Since it’s a planned intervention, an Overhaul can be scheduled during the low seasons to have the lowest impact possible to the customer’s operations.

What is a Repair?

Despite the level of quality and reliability Daikin offers within its products, components operating for thousands and thousands of hours can be subject to deterioration and might require repair. To address such an eventuality, Daikin offers full repair of compressors on Daikin units at a fixed price.

In this case, the compressor will need to be sent to the factory. For this reason, it is always better to have a redundant chiller in place or rent one – a possibility that Daikin offers –, to keep customers HVAC systems running despite repair operations.

Overhauling and Repair Benefits

The implementation of maintenance practices offers several advantages, and among them here there are some of the most relevant:

Overhauling

  • Cost savings: Repairs are costly and preventive actions aim to reduce it.

  • Reduced downtime: Planned maintenance and interventions reduce the risk of downtime.

  • Improved reliability and performance: Wear and tear makes the equipment operate at a lower performance than originally.

  • Extend lifetime: The replacement of some of the main components assures your equipment’s life gets prolonged.

  • Planned intervention: To avoid surprises when the chiller is most needed, planning in the low seasons allows for better and cheaper interventions.

  • Peace of mind: Focus on your core business, and let Daikin take care of your chillers.

Repairing
