Daikin, a global leader in HVAC solutions, announces its participation in the upcoming Data Centre World (DCW) 2025, the premier event for data centre professionals. The event will take place on 12-13 March 2025 at ExCeL London, where Daikin will be exhibiting at Stand DC127. The event will also be the occasion to launch the new Pro-C CRAH, extending the set of Daikin solutions for data centre projects.
As the demand for data centres continues to surge, driven by the growth of artificial intelligence and cloud computing, the need for efficient and sustainable cooling solutions has never been more critical. Data centres are notorious for their high energy consumption, making it imperative to optimise their operations to reduce environmental impact and operational costs. Daikin is committed to addressing the energy challenges faced by data centres. With over 100 years of experience in the HVAC industry, Daikin has developed a range of innovative solutions designed to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in data centre operations.
New product at the stand
Aiming to broaden solutions’ portfolio, the new Pro-C CRAH will be presented at DCW, with a complete unit at the stand. Ranging from 30 to 210 kW, this new product range allows for more precise temperature control in the white space. The key advantage of Pro-C CRAH relates to its flexible design, making it suitable for all kind of data centres. Indeed, Pro-C CRAH is available under hard and raised floor configurations and features a comprehensive list of accessories for optimal performance and outstanding reliability.
Heat Recovery Solutions
One of the highlights of Daikin's offerings is its advanced heat recovery solutions. At DCW, Daikin will explain its latest heat recovery technologies, in a presentation scheduled for March 13th at 10:45 am in the Energy Efficiency Theatre. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a Daikin specialist and learn how these solutions can significantly reduce energy consumption.
Comprehensive data centre portfolio
Daikin's portfolio for data centres includes a variety of cutting-edge products and systems tailored to meet the specific needs of this energy-intensive sector. Key offerings include:
- Intelligent Data Centre Manager (iDCM): this advanced control system ensures optimal performance over time by leveraging AI-supported plant management. The iDCM system monitors and adjusts the operation of multiple chiller units, to maintain peak efficiency and reliability.
- Air cooled Free Cooling Chillers: Daikin free cooling chillers utilise low ambient air temperatures to reduce the need for mechanical cooling, thereby cutting energy consumption and extending equipment life. The series includes glycol-free options, which offer additional benefits such as reduced maintenance and improved efficiency. The series covers from 183 to 2154 kW and is available under two compressor technologies: scroll, and VFD screw (Daikin-developed) for optimal part load efficiency. Also, Daikin-owned VFD is cooled down by refrigerant, ensuring proper operation in all working conditions.
- Pro-W Fan Array Units: the Pro-W range is designed for flexibility and scalability. These units are available in 4 sizes, covering from 175 to 700 kW. Thereby, Pro-W units can be employed to meet the cooling needs of data centres of all sizes, providing efficient and reliable cooling solutions.
Expertise that matters – keeping Norway’s largest data centere cool
Data centre projects are inherently complex, often involving specific requirements related to product features, delivery timelines, and maintenance services. These needs can only be met by specialised manufacturers who possess the expertise and capacity to handle such demanding projects. Daikin excels in the development and production of chillers, showcasing its proficiency by successfully managing intricate supply demands. Notably, Daikin has delivered 105 MW of cooling capacity for a single data centre project in Norway, the OSL-Hamar.
The OSL-Hamar is Norway’s largest data centre and is owned by Green Mountain. The facility consists of 3 main buildings, each including 30 MW of IT power, and runs exclusively on renewable energy from multiple hydropower plants. Daikin has supplied 71 EWFH-TZ free cooling chillers, 330 Pro-W fan array units, and 8 iDCM control systems for this project.
Global presence, rooted in Europe Daikin is the world’s leading company in the air-conditioning sector, present worldwide with sales offices and centres specialising in the design and production of HVAC equipment. In this sense, technologies for data centres are developed and manufactured in the competence centres in Italy and the United Kingdom. Whilst the UK factory in Cramlington, Northumberland, specializes in air-side products (Pro-C, Pro-W and other air handling units), the three Italian factories cover chillers, heat pumps, air handling units (incl. Pro-W), Pro-C CRAH, and VFD manufacturing.
