Daikin recently supplied two air-cooled scroll heat pumps from the R-32 Bluevolution range of products, to provide heating and cooling, based on the seasonals needs, to a major university in the South of Italy.

About the project
The project aimed at refurbishing the old HVAC system to make it more energy efficient.
To do so, Daikin was asked to provide a solution that could meet both the heating/cooling capacity needs and the energy efficiency targets.
Daikin provided two 500 kW R-32 scroll heat pumps in a back-to-back configuration, so they could be combined to reach the capacity needed.
Besides that, it was important for the end user to get an environmentally sustainable solution. For this reason the R-32 scroll heat pump by Daikin was the best choice, as it can guarantee
- low GWP
- the lowest CO2 emissions compared to products in the same segment
- refrigerant reclamation possibility, as Daikin has recently added R-32 to the refrigerant reclamation program Loop by Daikin

More about the products
The scroll R-32 air to water heat pumps installed for this project, are well-known for providing the best performance in the market and the lowest combined levels of direct and indirect CO2 emissions. That is possible thanks to the low GWP R-32 refrigerant, but also thanks to the best-in-class efficiency levels offered both in cooling and in heating modes.
In fact, being part of the Bluevolution range, the EWYT-B- series benefits from all the advantages offered by R-32, which significantly reduces the environmental impact of heat pump technologies for the Applied sector while still providing outstanding performance.
With the EWYT-B- Series, Daikin managed to offer a solution that balanced the need for high energy efficiency, low CO2 emissions and low GWP. Equally important – Daikin also managed to offer these products in a new configuration that allows now to extend the capacity of this range of products from 650 kW to 1200 kW.
