Daikin has recently been involved in the commissioning of 4 Air Cooled screw chillers to meet the cooling needs of an industrial plant in Turkey.

The main aspect of this project was reliability. The customer needed chillers that could fulfil the building’s cooling demand while being very reliable. Besides reliability, there was also a lot of focus on energy efficiency, which inevitably had an impact on operative costs.
All the above-mentioned requirements were satisfied by supplying 4 air-cooled chillers from the TZ line. A Series entirely developed for maximum efficiency, which features the screw inverter compressor by Daikin, and that can guarantee extremely high energy efficiency levels thanks to a design that integrates optimized and highly efficient components such as inverter fans, for instance.
So, while inverter fans can adjust their speed to actual demand, the Daikin screw inverter compressor can modulate its rotational speed (RPM) to adjust capacity to the actual demand, limiting energy consumption while always satisfying cooling demand.
The screw inverter compressor by Daikin also helped provide a certain level of reliability.
The Daikin screw compressor, in fact, differently from a standard screw compressor, uses one main screw meshing with twin star rotors to produce volume matching compression cycle. Due to the main rotor, being balanced in both radial and axial direction, the compressor bearing has extremely high reliability. Therefore, its life span can be longer than other screw compressors. The single screw compressor, then, has only three moving parts. As a result of that, it reduces the possibility of failure and keeps operation costs low.
And finally, the Daikin screw inverter compressor is built to facilitate serviceability, which is key, as maintenance is vital to guarantee chillers reliability.
