Daikin introduces the new EWYE-CZ air-to-water Inverter heat pump, equipped with Daikin's advanced Inverter Scroll compressor technology and uses R-454C refrigerant, ensuring both efficiency and environmental sustainability. This new heat pump allows hot water production up to 70 °C and represents an optimal choice to decarbonize residential heating.
Overview of EWYE-CZ
The range is available in 8 sizes from 16 kW to 70 kW, all equipped with Daikin Inverter scroll compressors. The operating range allows water to be supplied from 20°C to 70°C, even in extreme environmental conditions such as the harsh Nordic winters or in summer when domestic hot water is still required. In addition, it can operate at high delta T values, allowing hot water to be delivered to different heating applications within the system. It can operate in ambient temperatures ranging from -25°C to 40°C.
The new EWYE-CZ Inverter heat pump with R-454C refrigerant is available in four compact versions with one to four inline fans, all designed for maximum compactness and efficiency. This range also includes an integrated Inverter water pump, simplifying installation and optimising space. Despite its capacity, the EWYE-CZ has a minimal footprint, making it an ideal choice for projects with limited space, such as residential buildings, hotels and hospitals. A low-noise version is also available, particularly suitable for noise-sensitive applications.
The EWYE-CZ provides comfortable heating in a wide range of applications and enables domestic hot water production, with an anti-legionella control function for the external tank. This new range is equipped with one or two independent refrigerant circuits and uses R-454C refrigerant, classified as A2L according to ISO 817 and ASHRAE 34 standards. R-454C, characterised by low toxicity and flammability, eliminates the need for additional safety measures, making this solution one of the most comprehensive and innovative decarbonisation options on the market.
The 10 good reasons to choose it
Reason#1: Daikin full Inverter technology ensures high efficiency & low running costs
The EWYE-CZ is equipped with Daikin Inverter Scroll compressors that make use of inverter technology to improve the efficiency of the entire range. In addition, exceptional energy efficiency is further achieved by Daikin's Inverter Driven Fans, which are designed with high-efficiency, glass-reinforced resin blades to maximise performance. The combination of Daikin Inverter Scroll compressors and Inverter Driven Fans makes the new R-454C small inverter heat pump a fully Inverter Driven range. Thanks to its Full Inverter design, this new unit can closely match the cooling and heating load profile of the building. This capability is particularly important as it helps to keep the operating costs of the HVAC system low during part load conditions, which make up most of the system's operating time. By efficiently adapting to changing demands, the unit not only improves energy efficiency but also contributes to significant cost savings over time.
Reason #2: Vapour Injection technology allows high-temperature hot water production
Vapor injection with an Economizer extends the operating range for heating applications. It enables the supply of high-temperature hot water up to 70°C, making EWYE-CZ an ideal choice for residential applications, particularly in boiler replacement projects.
Reason#3: Smart control of defrosting for maximum customer comfort
To further improve the overall operating efficiency of the system and ensure greater comfort, Daikin offers an optimised Integrated Defrost logic that can coordinate the operation of multiple units and prevent the defrost cycle from occurring simultaneously. In a system of up to 4 units, the overall impact of defrosting is significantly reduced, providing several benefits: reduced water consumption for the system, increased comfort for the customer due to reduced temperature drops, and a more even distribution of the heating load over time.
Reason#4: Daikin technology ensures reliability and customer peace of mind
Being fully inverter, EWYE-CZ ensures greater adaptability of the unit's operation to the cooling and heating loads of the building. As a result, an inverter unit can minimize the number of on-off cycles, thereby extending its lifetime. As well the Tube & Fins (Cu/Al) Heat Exchanger is manufactured by Daikin and is reversible and optimized for extreme heating operations. The aluminium fins are coated with an acrylic layer to facilitate condensate drainage, improve corrosion resistance and provide UV protection.
Reason#5: Stock availability
This unit is available from stock and ready for immediate installation, ensuring fast and reliable delivery without the delays typically associated with production lead times. By having units readily available, Daikin can provide a more efficient service, responding quickly to customer requirements and offering greater flexibility. This approach minimizes waiting times and allows customers to receive and install units as quickly as possible.
Reason#6: Remote monitoring and system optimization
Daikin offers a range of tools and services that ensure excellent connectivity and control, resulting in significant energy savings and greater operational efficiency. Thanks to Daikin's proprietary cloud platform, Daikin on Site, it is possible to monitor and optimise system performance remotely, as well as enable remote software updates to keep the system constantly updated and operating at its best. In addition, Daikin offers services such as predictive maintenance, an effective strategy for preventing breakdowns and malfunctions. Remote diagnostic support helps to extend the life of the system, while the ability to manage multiple sites provides an ideal solution for those who need to monitor and manage multiple installations.
EWYE-CZ Small Inverter Heat Pump is designed to operate in Master/Slave mode, optimising the system's operation for up to four units. In this configuration, the master unit is responsible for managing the slave units connected in parallel within the same hydraulic system. This system makes it possible to balance the operating hours and load of each unit and compressor, ensuring a more efficient use of resources. This mode of operation minimises energy waste as the master unit can adjust the operation of the slave units according to the specific needs of the system and the external climatic conditions. This leads to an overall improvement in system performance, increasing operational efficiency and extending the life of the equipment.
Reason #7: Smart Grid Ready Box to run on green energy
Smart Grid Ready Box is available as an accessory for EWYE-CZ. It allows the integration of the unit control for a Smart Grid application, maximizing the use of green energy to run the Heat Pump. the Smart Grid Ready Box enables precise control of the heat pump, optimising energy consumption when renewable energy is available.
Reason#8: Green Building contribution & compliant with F-Gas regulations
Green Buildings must meet rigorous quality assessments based on specific rating systems that certify their minimal environmental impact. Among the most widely recognised systems are BREEAM, which is widely used around the world with over 200,000 certified buildings and more than one million registered for assessment, and LEED, which is particularly popular in the US and is gaining ground in the EU.
The EWYE-CZ can help earn project credits by improving the energy efficiency of hydronic systems, thanks to its Inverter Driven compressors and Inverter Driven fans, optimising system performance and reducing energy waste. As a result, the unit can contribute to meeting BREEAM and LEED certification requirements, helping to reduce the carbon footprint, making it an excellent choice for projects focused on environmental performance and energy efficiency.
Reason#9: Low carbon Solution
The EWYE-CZ is an F-Gas compliant solution that significantly reduces both direct and indirect CO2 emissions, making it a highly environmentally friendly option. Indeed, EWYE-CZ makes use of R-454C refrigerant, known for its low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 145.5. The sustainable benefits of R-454C ensure full compliance with the latest F-Gas regulation, helping to reduce environmental impact. Its low GWP makes it an excellent choice for projects where sustainability is a priority, helping to minimise the overall carbon footprint while delivering efficient and reliable performance.
Reason#10: Flexibility
Daikin offers the Hydronic Kit, a set of components designed to simplify the integration of Daikin heat pumps into water-based heating and cooling systems. The EWYE-CZ small inverter heat pump is equipped with an integrated inverter pump with electrical protection as standard. Customers also have the option of ordering the unit without the pump, for an easier integration into existing hydronic systems.
