Daikin has recently supplied six air-cooled chillers for a big industrial project in Ankara, Turkey.
The project involves a big company operating in the Turkish aerospace sector, which is installing chillers for new facilities, with the aim of providing the industrial plant, offices, and warehouses with cooling.

About the project
The main goal of this project was providing the HVAC plant with six reliable and energy efficient air-cooled chillers which could meet the cooling needs of the industrial plant, plus offices and warehouses, helping the customer having lower operative costs.
To meet the reliability and energy efficiency needs in this project, single screw compressor technology and free cooling were chosen, so the industrial plant could benefit from the energy savings ensured by the free cooling unit during cold season, and perfect variable load management offered by the screw inverter units which will be serving offices and warehouses.

The Daikin TZ and the CF Series were chosen to meet the needs on this project.
The two Daikin CF units with free cooling will be serving the industrial plant, providing the amount of cooling needed for the industrial process. Besides, ensuring absolute reliability, the CF units will help the industrial plant lowering operative costs and being more environmentally sustainable, as the free cooling option will allow to take advantage of favorable climate conditions: when outdoor temperatures will be low enough, chillers will turn off compressors using low outdoor temperature to chill water.

The TZ units instead will be serving offices and warehouses, where load variation is an important topic. In fact, single screw inverter units have been chosen so the chillers will be able to match the cooling demand variation of the facilities in different moments of the day or the year, making the system extremely energy efficient.

Besides energy efficiency, reliability was another very important aspect, bacuse having a reliable solution was fundamental to ensure that both the comfort and the process cooling needs of the project are met with no interruption.
The screw inverter technology by Daikin helped with reliability. Daikin has a history of leadership in the field of single screw compressor chillers, which have been installed all over the world for 20 years.
Daikin screw compressor, differently from a standard screw compressor, uses one main screw meshing with twin star rotors to produce volume matching compression cycle. Due to the main rotor, balanced in both radial and axial direction, the compressor bearing has extremely high reliability. Therefore, its life span can be longer than other screw compressors. The single screw compressor, then, has only three moving parts. As a result of that, it reduces the possibility of failure and keeps operation costs low.
