Why air-sourced heat pumps are a smart choice for hotels

In hotels, the primary requirement is to ensure maximum comfort, as this directly affects the customer experience. This can be achieved by selecting reliable, energy-efficient HVAC units equipped with advanced technology. In addition to comfort, economic return is also a key consideration; choosing solutions that minimise operational costs is essential for a hotel's long-term financial sustainability. Another key consideration is overcoming space limitations, which often requires compact, flexible system designs.

High temperature space heating and sanitary water production

A consistent hot water supply at a high temperature is crucial for ensuring guest comfort and meeting daily operational requirements. Hot water availability in guest rooms, kitchens, and wellness areas enhances customer satisfaction and plays a critical role in maintaining hygiene standards and complying with health and safety regulations.

The Daikin EWYE-CZ heat pump is specifically designed to meet these needs, delivering a consistent hot water supply at temperatures of up to 70°C. As well as providing efficient and comfortable space heating, it supports domestic hot water production, featuring an integrated anti-legionella control function for the external tank, an essential safeguard for water hygiene. Thanks to its advanced configuration, which includes Vapour Injection technology and an integrated Economiser, the EWYE-CZ is an ideal solution for new hotel installations and retrofitting existing systems, particularly for boiler replacement projects. It provides hotels with a sustainable, safe and energy-efficient alternative.

Compactness & Modularity

The EWYE-CZ is available in four compact unit sizes, from 16 to 70 kW heating capacity, featuring one to four inline fans. Each model is designed to deliver maximum energy efficiency while maintaining a minimal footprint, an essential advantage for hotels where space is often limited. The integrated inverter-driven water pump simplifies installation and optimises space utilisation by reducing the need for additional components. Despite its high performance and capacity, the compact design of the unit makes it particularly suitable for hotels with limited space, offering a flexible, space-saving solution without compromising on performance.

Daikin also offers the Hydronic Kit for the EWYE-CZ small inverter heat pump, a set of components designed to simplify integration into water-based heating and cooling systems, further reducing space requirements. The unit comes with an integrated inverter pump featuring electrical protection as standard.

Another key consideration in the design of hotel HVAC systems is the seasonal occupancy variation. Since not all rooms are occupied year-round, heating unoccupied spaces continuously leads to unnecessary energy consumption. To address this issue, a system that can modulate output based on actual demand is essential.

The Daikin EWYE-CZ Small Inverter Heat Pump offers a Master/Slave control solution that optimises the operation of up to four units. In this configuration, the master unit manages the slave units connected in parallel within the same hydraulic circuit. This setup enables a balanced distribution of operating hours and load across all units and compressors, ensuring more efficient use of resources. By dynamically adjusting the operation of each unit based on real-time system requirements and external climatic conditions, this control system minimises energy waste, enhances overall system performance and extends equipment lifespan.

After-sales services

Monitoring the performance of an HVAC system is essential for reducing operational costs and enhancing overall energy efficiency. Daikin's remote monitoring cloud platform, Daikin on Site (DoS), facilitates preventive maintenance, guaranteeing consistent operation. It continuously collects and analyses operational data, enabling facility managers to plan maintenance activities more effectively. By identifying potential issues before they result in breakdowns, DoS minimises downtime, extends the lifespan of equipment and ensures consistent comfort for guests, providing hotel operators with peace of mind. Daikin offers a range of tools and services that ensure excellent connectivity and maximise control and efficiency. Through DoS users can remotely monitor and optimise system performance, apply software updates and manage multiple installations from a single interface. Additional features, such as predictive maintenance and remote diagnostics, enhance reliability further, helping to prevent breakdowns and reduce service costs. This integrated approach supports facility management and contributes to long-term energy savings.

Thanks to Daikin’s extensive and highly efficient service network, we can deliver customised preventive maintenance plans tailored to the operational profile of each system. This widespread presence ensures fast response times and localised technical support, which significantly reduces downtime and extends equipment lifespan while enhancing overall system efficiency and reliability.

Daikin full Inverter technology ensures high efficiency & low running costs

To optimise energy performance, ensure long-term system reliability and significantly reduce operational costs, Daikin introduces the EWYE-CZ heat pump as a cutting-edge solution.

The unit is equipped with Daikin Inverter Scroll compressors that make use of inverter technology to improve the efficiency of the entire range. In addition, exceptional energy efficiency is further achieved by Daikin's Inverter Driven Fans, which are designed with high-efficiency, glass-reinforced resin blades to maximise performance. The combination of Daikin Inverter Scroll compressors and Inverter Driven Fans makes the new heat pump a fully Inverter Driven range. Thanks to its Full Inverter design, this new unit can closely match the cooling and heating load profile of the building. This capability is particularly important as it helps to keep the operating costs of the HVAC system low during part load conditions, which make up most of the system's operating time. By efficiently adapting to changing demands, the unit not only improves energy efficiency but also contributes to significant cost savings over time.

Low-Carbon Solution

The EWYE-CZ range operates with the environmentally friendly R-454C refrigerant. The EWYE-CZ is an F-Gas-compliant solution that significantly reduces both direct and indirect CO2 emissions, making it a highly environmentally friendly option. Indeed, EWYE-CZ makes use of R-454C refrigerant, known for its low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 145.5. The sustainable benefits of R-454C ensure full compliance with the latest F-Gas regulation, helping to reduce environmental impact. Its low GWP makes it an excellent choice for projects where sustainability is a priority, helping to minimise the overall carbon footprint while delivering efficient and reliable performance.
